Isotex was established in the town of Olmo di Creazzo, not far from Vicenza and roughly 70 kilometres from Venice, in 1957. The founder of the company was Roberto Bartuli, an expert in chemistry, who began by manufacturing textile finishing machinery. From its very beginning, the company's innovative capacities made it stand out from the rest: in 1961 it was the first company to design and build a continuous direct coating line in Italy. A technological revolution.
During those years Italy experienced an economic boom, the car and the refrigerator were discovered, great optimism pervaded the country. Isotex forged ahead and was promptly rewarded by the market. In 1965 the company had already established itself on the international market having sold hundreds of machines in 35 different countries. In 1968 the company landed in America: the first coating line was sold in the United States.
In 1974, Isotex ended up under the control of a big Italian financial holding company, Bastogi spa, and the head office was moved to Milan. The company underwent major changes up until 1981, when due to the efforts of the current managing director Italo Pulina, backed by Luigi Carlo Colombo, the Lombard industrialist from Busto Arsizio, Nuova Isotex S.p.A. was created. This newly-formed company took over the brand, machinery and premises of the original company, and the head office returned to the Veneto region.
As part of the Colombo Group the company went through another period of rapid development. The company began to expand its range of products in 1982 by manufacturing machines for a variety of purposes, such as air bag production, and in 1985 by producing conveyor belt plants and plants for finishing rubber materials. That year the company moved to its current premises in Sandrigo, 15 kilometres north of Vicenza, where new offices and a new factory were built on an area of 20 thousand square metres with over 5600 square metres occupied by the production site!
Nuova Isotex has always been a ground-breaker! The company was one of the first European enterprises to venture into China, and in fact, by 1986 the company was already exporting machinery for the production of imitation leather to the Chinese market. The company continued to sell and install state-of-the-art machinery and plants in China, and also contributed to the technological growth and development of many local concerns. Its success was so great that in 1995 Nuova Isotex opened its own business office in Beijing.
The 90s was a period characterised by internal efforts to introduce an automated production system and to achieve total quality. In 1992 numerical control was introduced into the plant production system and in the same year the company started up its remote technical support service system via modem. In 1999 the company received Iso 9001 European quality certification: the crowning achievement resulting from a company restructuring process carried out in compliance with modernity, quality and customer-focus criteria.
The new millennium commenced with a symbolic return to the prestigious past. In 2001, the company changed back to its original name Isotex, and at the same time directed its attention towards new markets and new products: there is a future to conquer!
